Building your own Web Page

Welcome to this course on the Internet and Building your own Web Page. During the course, we will learn more about the Internet, where it came from and how it works, and we will work on building a web site, starting from a simple page, and going on to look at design principles and creating a site with several linked pages. We will also take a brief look at some of the 'bells and whistles' that can be included in a web site - in particular Flash, javascript and java applets, animated gifs and multimedia.

By the end of the course, you should know a great deal more about the Internet, you should be able to construct and publish your own website, and you should know where to go to develop your skills further.

All the course materials are being made available on the Internet and on a CD-ROM. You will be able to look at the html source for any page on the disk to see just how these pages have been constructed and to get ideas on how you might construct your own web pages.

Your comments on these materials will be appreciated - like any web site, these materials are constantly 'under construction'. You can email me by clicking here.

The course programme acts as an index to the site. If you click on the error-file:tidyout.logwhich you will find in the top, left hand corner of most pages on this site it will return you to the course programme. If there is no link available, use the back button of your browser to return to the previous page where there will normally be a link.
