This guide tells you how to set about making a simple web page to put on the school intranet. You will learn how to open Netscape Composer, and how to put headings, text and images on your web page. You will also learn how to use tables and how to link your page to other web pages.
As you become more confident, you may want to try to do something more interesting and exciting on your web pages. You will find suggestions here and links to sites on the Internet where you can get more help. The most important thing is that you enjoy yourself while you are learning to make your web pages. Follow the suggestions made here, but also try out your own ideas.
On some pages you will find links to other pages. If you click on them you will find more information about what you are learning. A link looks like this. Try clicking on it now.
To get back to the page you were looking at from any link, click the Back button on your browser. You may have to do this more than once if you have followed additional links. If you are wondering, what a browser is, it is the name given to the software we use to look at web pages on the school intranet and on the Internet. You will probably be using Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer.
At the bottom of each page of this guide you will find these two arrows:
Back
Next
Clicking on the left hand arrow, labelled 'Back' will return you to the previous page. Clicking on the right hand arrow will take you to the next section of the guide.
If you want to return to this page, click on the rainbow, which appears on the top left hand corner of every page.
If you have not made a web page before, click here to go to the first section
Otherwise, click on any of the links below.
